Adopt a Italian Greyhound (short coat)

Geno the Dog needs a home

This is a courtesy post for one of our nearby IGCA State affililiates:

Hello, meet Geno! He is a 12-year-old male who has a relaxed "live and let live" attitude. He prefers time with his human, but does well with calm dogs, nice cats, and older children. Geno is crate trained for shorter periods of time, house trained, and obedient. He does sleep with his human in bed at night as he doesn't like the crate at night and wants to be close to his person.  He is like most other iggies, a velcro dog.  He is used to spending about 4 hrs in the crate without issue when foster mom is away during the day. He is not interested in playing with foster iggy brothers or cats.  He much perfers to be with his people snuggling.  He would do fine as an only dog. He is pretty good with the cold weather and doesn't much want to burrow under blankets but he is tolerant to wearing fashionable clothes.  He does great traveling in the car in his crate and does well on leash.  He is toothless so no dentals needed in the future. He is developing cataracts but his vision seems just fine. He is working to lose his love handles as iggies are much healthier when at the proper, slim weight. His ideal weight is likely 17 lbs. He has a large fatty tumor on his neck, another one on his chest, and other minor lumps. Happily, the vet doesn't believe these lumps require further investigation or removal. It is very common in older dogs, especially IG's to have fatty tumors.

Geno is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and heartworm negative.

Geno is available for adoption through IGCA Rescue. He is being fostered in Spearfish, South Dakota. Inquiries will be forwarded onto the rep for this area.
